Digital badge as certificate for learning

A digital badge is a validated indicator of accomplishment, skill, quality, or interest that can be earned in many learning environments.

The world is changing fast and, today more than ever, traditional modes of assessment fail to capture the learning that happens everywhere and at every age. Digital badges are a powerful tool for identifying and validating the rich array of people's skills, knowledge, accomplishments, and competencies. Digital badges inspire new pathways to learning and connect learners to opportunities, resources, and one another.

A generic badge was designed and then localised into the four project languages. Each of the partners was established as an “issuer” on the badgr platform. Each partner issued their localised digital badge to each of the multipliers that completed the training course that the partner delivered.

In common with other digital badge, the seniors@digiworld badge includes metadata which is displayed whenever the viewer clicks on the badge. In this case the metadata comprised the criteria for successful completion of the training course and a link to the Edueca platform.

The multipliers are able to load their digital badges onto social media platforms such as Facebook and LinkedIn, thereby enabling their colleagues, friends and potential employers to see their achievement. Each recipient therefore becomes an indirect “ambassador” for the project and thereby increases recognition and awareness.
